Maya and JuanHand Back CICC’s Drive to Fight Online Fraud

Digital financial services platform Maya and online lending app JuanHand have pledged their support for the “Scam Safe” initiative led by the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC).

The campaign aims to protect Filipinos from the growing threat of online scams and cyber fraud.

The Scam Safe initiative, spearheaded by the CICC under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), focuses on public education.

It seeks to raise awareness about common scam tactics and promote safer online behaviour, particularly as the adoption of digital financial services continues to rise in the Philippines.

Maya stated that its support for the campaign aligns with its existing cybersecurity measures.

The company utilises system safeguards, including real-time monitoring and risk controls, to secure users across its payments, savings, and credit services.

These features are integrated into the app to encourage safer digital habits among its customer base.

Toff Rada, Maya’s Head of Corporate Affairs, noted that partnerships between the government and the private sector are essential for addressing cyber threats.

He emphasised that cooperation helps disseminate information effectively and improves the overall response to scams.

Beyond platform security, Maya operates its own “ScamPatrol” campaign to educate users on identifying and avoiding fraud.

JuanHand also expressed its backing for the initiative, highlighting its commitment to helping users remain vigilant against fraud in the digital lending space.

The company supports efforts that foster awareness and the responsible use of online financial platforms.

Both companies agreed that combating online fraud requires shared responsibility and continued collaboration to ensure a safer digital financial environment for Filipinos.
