Nicki Minaj’s Song Hits No. 1 Thanks To A 44,000% Sales Spike

Nicki Minaj’s “My Life” debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Digital Song Sales chart after a more than 44,000% spike in sales in America. The last year-to-year and a half in Nicki Minaj’s life have seen the hip-hop superstar make decisions that will change the course of her career and which may have ramifications for years to come. After promoting her latest album, Pink Friday 2, the superstar announced a deluxe edition titled Gag City Reloaded, but then she changed her mind. In September 2024, she announced that she had decided instead to focus on writing and recording a sixth full-length, hopefully shortening the period in between releases.

More recently, Minaj aligned herself with Republican and conservative political movements in America. In December of 2025 she appeared at the annual Turning Point USA conference, originally founded by late conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk. Minaj even spoke onstage with Kirk’s widow, Erika, when she praised President Donald Trump, going so far as to call him “handsome.”

Minaj’s alignment with Turning Point was quickly called out by a number of fans, but clearly her following has not completely abandoned her. Despite the fact that she has not released new music, Minaj earns another No. 1 hit in America this week, as listeners quickly turn to a previously-released cut and make it a bestseller.

Nicki Minaj’s New No. 1 Song

Minaj rules this week’s Rap Digital Song Sales chart, a tally she knows very, very well. The list looks only at the top-selling tracks on digital storefronts that can be classified as rap, and once again, Minaj is in charge. Her song “My Life,” which has never before appeared on the roster, debuts at No. 1.

How Many No. 1 Songs Has Nicki Minaj Charted?

“My Life” immediately becomes Minaj’s twenty-sixth career No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. Not long ago, the Grammy nominee passed triple-digit top 10s, and this latest win marks her one-hundred-and-fifth trip to the loftiest tier, while nearly 60 additional cuts have landed on the ranking throughout the years.

“My Life” Sees Its Sales Explode

A massive spike in purchases of “My Life” brings the track to No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. Luminate reports that in the tracking frame reflected on the current Billboard rankings, “My Life” sold just under 900 copies. The frame prior, the cut didn’t even sell 10. Sales of “My Life” grew by 44,250% in just 7 days, as fans of Minaj rushed to support her after she came under fire for her recent political move.

Pink Friday 2 Album Track Turns Into Surprise Hit

“My Life” is one of two dozen songs featured on Minaj’s fifth album, Pink Friday 2. The cut, which samples Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” – and thus credits both Debbie Harry and Chris Stein as co-writers – was never chosen as a single, but nonetheless it’s become yet another No. 1 for Minaj in America.
