The New York Yankees are reportedly holding firm in negotiations with a star player and, depending on how those talks progress, they seem content to walk away without a significant addition this winter.

As the team continues its standoff with former Most Valuable Player Award winner Cody Bellinger, it has seen other star free agents like Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette land elsewhere. Now Bellinger could be the Yankees’ final chance at a significant addition before next season starts.

“As for Bellinger, it’s believed the Yankees’ last offer to Bellinger — five years for around $160 million — may be their best and final,” Randy Miller reported for NJ.com. “The former NL MVP is seeking seven years for about $266 million, or around $38 million per year.”

Yankees Accruing Lesser Veterans As Cody Bellinger Talks Stall

If the Yankees decide Bellinger’s ask is too much and he’s able to find a better deal elsewhere, the team might be content to return next season without any significant veteran additions to the roster. And that might have been the thinking when the Yankees signed utility slugger Seth Brown to a minor league contract, as he could potentially serve a similar defensive role as Bellinger did last season.

“With or without Bellinger, Brown will go into Yankees spring training as a long shot to break camp with the Yankees,” Miller added.

And that thinking might have also come into play for the starting rotation as well, as the Yankees have now signed veteran pitcher Dylan Coleman, according to the New York Daily News’ Gary Phillips.

New York Yankees’ New Pitcher Was Cut By Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles

Coleman made his major-league debut with the Kansas City Royals in 2021 and he logged his best campaign with the Royals the following year, as he maintained a 2.78 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 68 innings.

In 2023, the Royals traded Coleman to the Houston Astros and he was subsequently designated for assignment and then released. Last winter, he signed a minor league deal with the Yankees’ division rival Baltimore Orioles and he logged a 4.91 ERA across Double-A and Triple-A last season.

But the Orioles released Coleman in the middle of the season as he looked to make more progress toward a big-league comeback.

“The righty had a solid season with KC in 2022, posting a 2.78 ERA over 68 G with a 31.2 Whiff% and a fastball that averaged 97.6 mph,” Phillips posted on X, formerly Twitter. “However, he’s only pitched in 24 MLB games since then, the last coming in 2024 with HOU, and only totaled 11 G in the minors last year.”

Now it seems the Yankees see something in the major-league veteran as they are willing to take a chance on him after a pretty harsh year with their rival.

To read more editions, subscribe “The most valuable commodity I know of is information.” — Gordon Gekko, Wall Street Ten months ago, FBI agents raided Shayne Coplan’s Manhattan apartment, ostensibly in search of evidence that the prediction market he founded, Polymarket, had illegally allowed US residents to place bets on the US election. Two weeks ago, the CFTC gave Polymarket the green light to allow those very same US residents to place bets on whatever they like. This is quite the turn of events — and it’s not just about elections or politics. With its US government seal of approval in hand, Polymarket is reportedly raising capital at a valuation of $9 billion — a reflection of the growing belief that prediction markets will be used for much more than betting on elections once every four years. Instead, proponents say prediction markets can provide a real service to the world by providing it with better information about nearly everything. I think they might, too — but only if insiders are free to participate. Yesterday, for example, Polymarket announced new betting markets on company earnings reports, with a promise that it would improve the information that investors have to work with.  Instead of waiting three months to find out how a company is faring, investors could simply watch the odds on Polymarket.  If the probability of an earnings beat is rising, for example, investors would know at a glance that things are going well. But that will only happen if enough of the people betting actually know how things are going. Relying on the wisdom of crowds to magically discern how a business is doing won’t add much incremental knowledge to the world; everyone’s guesses are unlikely to average out to the truth. If…

Crypto News 17 September 2025 | 18:00 Discover why BlockDAG’s upcoming Awakening Testnet launch makes it the best crypto to buy today as Story (IP) price jumps to $11.75 and Hyperliquid hits new highs. Recent crypto market numbers show strength but also some limits. The Story (IP) price jump has been sharp, fueled by big buybacks and speculation, yet critics point out that revenue still lags far behind its valuation. The Hyperliquid (HYPE) price looks solid around the mid-$50s after a new all-time high, but questions remain about sustainability once the hype around USDH proposals cools down. So the obvious question is: why chase coins that are either stretched thin or at risk of retracing when you could back a network that’s already proving itself on the ground? That’s where BlockDAG comes in. While other chains are stuck dealing with validator congestion or outages, BlockDAG’s upcoming Awakening Testnet will be stress-testing its EVM-compatible smart chain with real miners before listing. For anyone looking for the best crypto coin to buy, the choice between waiting on fixes or joining live progress feels like an easy one. BlockDAG: Smart Chain Running Before Launch Ethereum continues to wrestle with gas congestion, and Solana is still known for network freezes, yet BlockDAG is already showing a different picture. Its upcoming Awakening Testnet, set to launch on September 25, isn’t just a demo; it’s a live rollout where the chain’s base protocols are being stress-tested with miners connected globally. EVM compatibility is active, account abstraction is built in, and tools like updated vesting contracts and Stratum integration are already functional. Instead of waiting for fixes like other networks, BlockDAG is proving its infrastructure in real time. What makes this even more important is that the technology is operational before the coin even hits exchanges. That…
