Everybody Stay Calm, ‘The Office’s Michael And Dwight Are Coming To ‘Fortnite’

While I can think of any number of IPs that Fortnite has not yet scooped up for its ever-expanding metaverse, I have to admit this one never even remotely crossed my mind.

After some rumors a while back, it’s true, The Office is coming to Fortnite, as confirmed by a tweets from the official Fortnite account.

The Office crossover will launch sometime during the next update, meaning from January 22 to February 5. The two skins reportedly coming are Michael Scott (of course) and Dwight (also of course), though there’s no word if this could expand to Jim, Pam or anyone else. Usually, most collabs are two skins, but we’ll see.

I will list this as one of the most unexpected collabs I’ve ever seen in Fortnite, which is definitely saying something. It makes me think of what could possibly be next. Leslie and Ron from Parks and Recreation? Jack and Liz from 30 Rock? Michael and Janet from The Good Place? We cannot take anything off the table, no matter how normal it may sound. Let’s keep going! Friends? Seinfeld? Stever Urkel? The sky is the limit now that this dam has broken.

For some, myself included, Fortnite has turned into sort of a digital action-figure-collecting simulator, and I cannot turn down getting virtual Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute dolls. I’m curious what other cosmetics they’ll launch with, namely mining tools. Dwight wields a samurai sword at some point during the show, though we have plenty of those as pickaxes already.

There is a list of other collabs that are supposedly coming either this season or next. Those would be:

  • Marvel Rivals – Luna and Magik
  • Regular Show – Mordecai, Skips, Rigby
  • Looney Tunes – Lola Bunny, Daffy
  • Ninjago pt. 2 – Lloyd, Nya, Wu
  • Solo Leveling – Jin-woo and I imagine Chae Hae-In
  • Ed, Edd and Eddy – This should be obvious

As for The Office, there are no official renders of Dwight and Michael’s skins yet, outside of a zillion AI-generated images from Nano Banana, Grok and Midjourney that are…actually quite good at doing this sort of thing lately. I would expect official art soon, however, which should come alongside a release date that could be as soon as tomorrow or as late as early February.

I mean, I’ve got my wallet ready for this one. The Office was a seminal series for me growing up, and I’m not going to give up the chance to shoot Batman with Dwight Schrute.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
