The opening weeks of 2026 have brought a noticeable shift in market behavior. Instead of chasing breakouts, traders are increasingly assessing durability, structure, and participation.

Ethereum continues to attract institutional capital through ETFs, reinforcing its role as an anchor asset. Chainlink, by contrast, remains under pressure, struggling to convert oversold signals into momentum. Together, these dynamics are shaping how participants interpret risk among established names and reassess the best crypto to buy now.

Periods of consolidation often redirect attention away from price alone. When large-cap assets stall, the spotlight widens toward projects offering alternative participation models and clearer mechanics. That backdrop has allowed Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP) to surface more frequently in the discussion, not as a reaction to short-term price swings. Instead, it is being positioned as a structured system built around its hardware Proof Pods and live presale auction, advancing independently of short-term sentiment.

Chainlink Trades Defensively as Momentum Fades

Recent movement in Chainlink price points to caution rather than capitulation. LINK continues to trade near the $12.60 area after a modest decline, remaining below all major moving averages.

The 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day averages are positioned above the current price, reinforcing sustained seller control across short, medium, and longer-term timeframes. Despite the launch of Grayscale’s Chainlink Trust ETF, the price structure has yet to improve meaningfully.

Momentum indicators remain mixed and unconvincing. While the daily MACD hints at potential upside, RSI, ADX, and Bull/Bear Power reflect weak demand and oversold conditions without confirmation of a reversal. Resistance remains near the Ichimoku Kijun around $13.20, while support is limited above $12.20.

Short-term expectations favor a narrow range between $12.20 and $13.20. Until LINK can reclaim $13.20 on a sustained basis, Chainlink price action remains defensive, keeping traders patient rather than aggressive.

Ethereum Inflows Reinforce Institutional Confidence

While altcoins struggle to establish direction, Ethereum price action is increasingly shaped by institutional participation rather than short-term sentiment. Ethereum ETFs recorded $479 million in weekly inflows for the period ending January 16, reversing the prior week’s outflows.

BlackRock’s ETHA led the group, accounting for nearly half of total inflows. Activity was positive on four of five trading days, with January 14 delivering the strongest single-session performance.

Weekly trading volume across Ethereum ETFs reached $7.74 billion, lifting cumulative net inflows to $12.91 billion and total assets above $20 billion. Although the Ethereum price remains sensitive to broader market conditions, ETF data points to underlying conviction.

Compared with Bitcoin ETFs, which drew $1.42 billion over the same period, Ethereum continues to reinforce its role as the second institutional pillar. For traders weighing the best crypto to buy now, steady capital inflows set Ethereum apart from more hesitant alternatives.

A New Crypto Challenger: ZKP Attracts Buyers for Infrastructure

Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP) is pulling market focus through mechanics rather than price volatility. Central to that narrative are Proof Pods: plug-and-play hardware devices designed to perform verifiable AI computation for the network. Now, approximately $17 million worth of Proof Pods have been deployed, signaling early infrastructure participation rather than speculative positioning.

Proof Pods earn ZKP by validating real compute tasks, with rewards calculated using the previous day’s auction closing price. This ties infrastructure growth directly to token distribution, creating alignment between contributors and the network. Each Pod operates within a level-based system, allowing output and rewards to scale through software upgrades without replacing hardware.

That infrastructure model sits alongside a daily on-chain presale auction. Every 24 hours, 190 million ZKP tokens are released and distributed proportionally based on total contributions. There are no fixed prices or private allocations, and the auction establishes a transparent reference price used across the ecosystem.

Technologically, Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP) operates as a Layer-1 blockchain supporting both EVM and WASM execution. EVM compatibility allows Ethereum-based applications to deploy without friction, while WASM enables high-performance computation suited for AI workloads. Zero-knowledge proofs validate results without exposing underlying data, shifting trust toward cryptographic verification rather than intermediaries.

As traders debate Ethereum price, monitor Chainlink price, and reassess the best crypto to buy now, Zero Knowledge Proof is increasingly viewed as a framework built around participation, infrastructure, and verifiable output, an alternative lens during periods of market indecision.

Final Thoughts

Taken together, the divergence is telling. Chainlink price remains range-bound as sellers retain control, while Ethereum price benefits from consistent institutional inflows that reinforce long-term confidence. Both reflect markets that are active but selective, defensive rather than expansive.

Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP), by contrast, is advancing through measurable participation rather than price reaction. Its combination of Proof Pods, daily presale auctions, and dual execution environments offers a system that continues to function regardless of broader sentiment.

For some, established assets remain the priority. For others reconsidering the best crypto to buy now, attention is shifting toward projects defined by structure and contribution rather than momentum alone.

In markets that hesitate, leadership is often re-evaluated quietly. Whether through capital inflows, defensive consolidation, or infrastructure deployment, the coming months may be less about chasing moves and more about choosing where conviction actually belongs.

The launch comes amid competing parliamentary bills that debate interest payments and capital requirements for stablecoin issuers. Digital asset custodian BDACS has launched KRW1, South Korea’s first fully regulated won-backed stablecoin, in partnership with Woori Bank. The announcement follows completion of a proof of concept validating technical infrastructure spanning fiat deposits, token issuance, and blockchain verification, as per a Thursday press release. Each KRW1 token maintains full collateralization through South Korean won held in escrow at Woori Bank, with real-time banking API integration providing transparent proof of reserves, according to BDACS’ statement. The company trademarked the KRW1 brand in December 2023, building infrastructure before the advent of formal regulations. KRW1 launched on the Avalanche blockchain, chosen for its “high-performance capabilities” and recognition by Korea’s Internet & Security Agency for “reliability in public-sector applications.” “The successful test pilot of KRW1 demonstrates the need for a highly-performant and reliable blockchain tailored for a regulatory-compliant stablecoin,” Justin Kim, Head of Asia at Ava Labs, said in the statement. BDACS envisions KRW1 serving remittances, payments, investments, and deposits, with public-sector deployment planned for low-cost payment and settlement systems in emergency relief disbursements. The company plans to expand KRW1 to additional blockchains and explore collaborations with global stablecoin networks, including potential partnerships with USD-backed issuers Circle and Tether, according to the press release.
