MANILA, Philippines – Advocates, church groups, and civil society members are set to launch “Bisto Proyekto: Ang Bagong People Power” at the Adamson University Theater on Saturday, February 21, signaling a strategic shift in how the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution is commemorated.
At the launch ceremony, organizers from the anti-corruption group Taongbayan Action for Participatory, Accountable and Transparent Governance (TAPAT) will kickstart a nationwide inspection of flood control projects.
TAPAT will also launch its Bisto.ph platform, which was developed by civic tech organization BetterGov.ph.
The website allows citizens to access a comprehensive database and map of flood control projects and government infrastructure projects nationwide, and take part in monitoring it.
Among the highlights of this launch are the citizen inspection reports from over 70 sites and the panel discussion on infrastructure corruption.
Among the guests expected to join are Ombudsman Boying Remulla, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Nicasio Conti, PHINMA Corporation CEO Ramon del Rosario Jr., former DPWH secretary Rogelio Singson, former finance undersecretary Cielo Magno, People’s Budget Coalition co-convenor Ken Abante, and Adamson University president Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario.
Former Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines president and Bishop of Kalookan Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David is also set to deliver a message during the launch.
