BLACKPINK fans wasted no time snapping up the superstars’ long-awaited new album DEADLINE, helping it sell a record-breaking amount for the group — and the K-pop industry at large — on its first day available.
According to South Korea’s real-time sales Hanteo Chart, DEADLINE sold 1,461,785 physical copies worldwide upon its release on Friday, February 27, 2026. According to reports, the tally earns BLACKPINK the distinction of being the female K-pop act with the largest first-day album sales ever. As BLACKPINK, members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa are also the only female K-pop artists to have multiple releases sell over one million copies in a single day.
DEADLINE surpasses the previous leader among female K-pop releases in aespa’s 2023 mini album My World, which moved 1.37 million units on its first day of release. BLACKPINK’s previous best 24 hours came when their 2022 album Born Pink moved 1.01 copies, which had only been surpassed by the first-day sales of NewJeans’ Get Up EP (which moved 1.19 million copies on its first day) and LE SSERAFIM’s UNFORGIVEN full-length (1.02 million copies).
Overall, DEADLINE earned the second-largest first-day sales total among K-pop albums in 2026 so far, only topped by ENHYPEN’s mega-seller THE SIN : VANISH that moved over 1.65 million copies on Day 1.
When it comes to global competition, DEADLINE is vying against Bruno Mars’ first solo record in a decade with The Romantic. But no doubt there’s a friendly rivalry happening after Bruno and BP member Rosé earned one of last year’s biggest and most acclaimed singles with “APT.”
DEADLINE is centered around the new single “GO,” which has writing credits from all four BLACKPINK members as well as Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The track was produced by the group’s longtime collaborator TEDDY and pop hitmaker Cirkut, both of whom picked up wins at the recent 2026 Grammy Awards, with the former earning the Best Song Written for Visual Media for his work on KPop Demon Hunters’ “Golden” and the latter snagging Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.
The five-track EP also includes the 2025 summer single “GO” (which had Diplo assist on the production and songwriting) and three new songs: “Champion,” “Me and my” and “Fxxxboy.”
BLACKPINK Shakes Up 2026’s K-Pop Sales Chart So Far
With just one day of sales, BLACKPINK quickly shook up this year’s K-pop album sales chart.
According to Hanteo’s month-end charts, ENHYPEN’s THE SIN : VANISH closed January with over 2.10 million copies sold worldwide as the month’s top-selling LP, followed by ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s historic debut EUPHORIA, moving nearly 1.46 million copies.
Meanwhile, February saw the release of ATEEZ’s GOLDEN HOUR : Part.4 album, which. moved 1.54 million units in its first week, and is another big competitor among the K-pop mega-sellers.
But with DEADLINE’s sales expected to keep ballooning throughout the coming weeks, BLACKPINK will easily land among 2026’s top-selling K-pop records so far and could maintain a high position throughout the year despite major releases scheduled throughout the coming months.
Stay tuned for more updates on how BLACKPINK’s DEADLINE performs globally in what is already turning into one of the year’s biggest music events.
