Political analysts and observers blasted President Donald Trump on Sunday after he unleashed his latest "flailing" rant about media coverage.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that media outlets publishing "fake news" about the war in Iran should be "brought up on charges for (sic) treason." The post was made in response to a report from The Wall Street Journal indicating that Iranian forces had damaged five U.S. military refueling planes at a Saudi air base. Trump claimed that the video of the incident was AI-generated.

"The fact is, Iran is being decimated, and the only battles they 'win' are those that they create through AI, and are distributed by Corrupt Media Outlets," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "The Radical Leftwing Press knows this full well, but continues to go forward with false stories and LIES."

Political analysts and observers panned the president on social media.

"Treason? Try the First Amendment," Tim Lambert, editor-in-chief of Pennsylvania Capital-Star, posted on Bluesky.

"The Leader," Barry McCaffrey, MS NOW national security analyst, posted on X in response to a picture of Trump's Truth Social post.

"He’s flailing. He’s leading the country—and the world—toward catastrophe. When incompetence mixes with arrogance, the result is dangerous for everyone," MeidasTouch Network posted on Bluesky.

"Two weeks into the war that he started for reasons he can’t explain, the president of the United States is threatening to charge news outlets with treason for purportedly colluding with the enemy by producing coverage he dislikes," Matthew Gertz, senior fellow at Media Matters for America, posted on Bluesky.

"I’m sure Bari Weiss will begin raising hell immediately," lawyer Larry Jackson posted on Bluesky.
