Thunder Compute, a startup building a cloud-GPU platform for AI and machine learning workloads, recently raised $4.5 million in seed funding led by Matrix Partners. This investment included participation from Y Combinator, Avesta Fund, Preston-Werner Ventures, CyberAgent Capital, Transpose Platform, and Amino Capital.

Founded by engineers focused on systems and infrastructure, Thunder Compute offers access to GPU instances designed for AI training, fine-tuning, inference, and general ML workloads. The company aims to make high-performance compute more accessible to startups, individual researchers, and enterprises that want lower costs without compromising reliability or security.

The Thunder Compute Proposition

The company positions itself around a simple idea: demand for AI-compute continues to rise, but the GPU market remains expensive, inflexible, and cumbersome. That means developers and teams have a hard time accessing production-ready infrastructure.

Thunder Compute focuses heavily on the software layer behind GPU provisioning, orchestration, and usability rather than treating infrastructure as a hardware reselling business with sales reps and multi-year contracts.

For many teams, the questions are no longer just whether a provider has GPUs in stock, but whether those GPUs can be deployed quickly, managed predictably, and integrated cleanly into real development and production workflows.

Cost-effective GPU Instances

Thunder Compute stands out for having the cheapest on-demand A100 and H100 GPUs on the market.

GPU  VRAM vCPUs RAM Price
NVIDIA A6000  48 GB 4 32 GB $0.27/hr
NVIDIA A100  80 GB 4 32 GB $0.78/hr
NVIDIA H100 80 GB 4 32 GB $1.38/hr

Scale up Easily

The company’s pitch goes beyond headline pricing. Thunder Compute says customers also choose the platform because it’s able to scale from prototyping to production with minimal overhead.

Instances can be upgraded by adding up to 8 GPUs, 144 vCPUs and 720 GB of RAM. This can be achieved easily by creating new instances from saved snapshots, reducing configuration time.

The table below exemplifies some possible A100 configurations and their corresponding prices.

GPU  Mode GPU Count VRAM vCPUs RAM Storage Price
NVIDIA A100 Prototyping 1 80 GB 4 32 GB 100 GB $0.78/hr
NVIDIA A100 Prototyping 1 80 GB 4 32 GB 1000 GB $0.98/hr
NVIDIA A100  Prototyping 1 80 GB 12 96 GB 100 GB $1.26/hr
NVIDIA A100  Prototyping 2 160 GB 8 64 GB 100 GB $1.56/hr
NVIDIA A100 Production 1 80 GB 18 90 GB 100 GB $1.79/hr
NVIDIA A100  Production 4 320 GB 72 360 GB 100 GB $7.16/hr
NVIDIA A100  Production 8 640 GB 144 720 GB 100 GB $14.32/hr

Developer-first Ecosystem

What truly separates Thunder Compute from other providers is its focus on the software layer. Rather than simply handing over a raw terminal, the platform is built to integrate directly into modern AI development workflows.

Engineers can use cloud compute instantly through:

  • IDE Integration: VS Code and Cursor extensions, which allows developers to write and debug code on high-performance GPUs as if they were working on their local machines.
  • Ready-to-Code Environments: Instances come pre-configured with PyCharm and optimized CUDA environments, eliminating difficulty of configuring new environments.
  • Automation & Scale: Thunder Compute provides robust CLI tools and documented API endpoints, enabling simple integration into CI/CD workflows.

By treating the GPU cloud as a software product rather than a hardware commodity, Thunder Compute drastically reduces the “time-to-train,” helping researchers focus on their models instead of their infrastructure.

Spin up Your First Cloud-GPU Instance

Getting started with Thunder Compute is frictionless, moving from account creation to a live GPU terminal in minutes. The platform offers a granular range of instances tailored to specific workload profiles.

With a transparent pricing structure, teams can forecast their burn rate accurately before spinning up a single H100. For developers evaluating alternatives to the “Big Cloud” providers, the platform offers a path that prioritizes speed of deployment and ease of use without the enterprise bloat.

The Future of Thunder Compute

The funding comes at a time when startups across the AI landscape are racing to secure access to compute. As model development, fine-tuning, and inference workloads continue to expand, infrastructure providers that can pair competitive economics with strong software ergonomics may find themselves in an increasingly favorable position.

Thunder Compute’s bet is that cloud GPU infrastructure should be a polished software product, not something you have to call a sales rep to buy.

With fresh capital from Matrix Partners and its other backers, the plans to continue building out its platform and expanding access for customers looking for a more software-driven approach to AI compute.

One Of Frank Sinatra’s Most Famous Albums Is Back In The Spotlight

The post One Of Frank Sinatra’s Most Famous Albums Is Back In The Spotlight appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Frank Sinatra’s The World We Knew returns to the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts, showing continued demand for his timeless music. Frank Sinatra performs on his TV special Frank Sinatra: A Man and his Music Bettmann Archive These days on the Billboard charts, Frank Sinatra’s music can always be found on the jazz-specific rankings. While the art he created when he was still working was pop at the time, and later classified as traditional pop, there is no such list for the latter format in America, and so his throwback projects and cuts appear on jazz lists instead. It’s on those charts where Sinatra rebounds this week, and one of his popular projects returns not to one, but two tallies at the same time, helping him increase the total amount of real estate he owns at the moment. Frank Sinatra’s The World We Knew Returns Sinatra’s The World We Knew is a top performer again, if only on the jazz lists. That set rebounds to No. 15 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart and comes in at No. 20 on the all-encompassing Jazz Albums ranking after not appearing on either roster just last frame. The World We Knew’s All-Time Highs The World We Knew returns close to its all-time peak on both of those rosters. Sinatra’s classic has peaked at No. 11 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart, just missing out on becoming another top 10 for the crooner. The set climbed all the way to No. 15 on the Jazz Albums tally and has now spent just under two months on the rosters. Frank Sinatra’s Album With Classic Hits Sinatra released The World We Knew in the summer of 1967. The title track, which on the album is actually known as “The World We Knew (Over and…
