Solana-based decentralized exchange Drift Protocol announced that it sent onchain messages to the ETH-holding wallets of the funds stolen in a hack attack worth approximately 280-286 million dollars. In the step announced via X on Friday, messages were sent to four wallets via the Ethereum address 0x0934faC, initiating communication through Blockscan chat. This method is frequently used for anonymous communication with attackers and led to partial fund recovery in the Euler Finance hack.

Drift’s message came hours after Thursday, when an anonymous sender using the ENS name readnow.eth sent a 1000 ETH blackmail message to the hacker wallets. The claims could not be verified and may be a misdirection attempt. According to SolanaFloor data, the hack affected at least 20 protocols, with Gauntlet suffering 6.4 million dollars in losses. Cyvers indicated that the attack was an operation lasting weeks, the attacker had pre-configured the durable nonces feature, and pointed to a signer approval issue similar to the Bybit hack. No fund recovery 48 hours later. Latest news: Over 200 million dollars in potential exploit risk detected onchain in the Drift protocol.
