Dubai plans to launch a smart medical treatment visa as part of its ambition to promote medical tourism in the emirate.
The initiative is part of an agreement signed between the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs Dubai and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
The partnership seeks to strengthen integration between residency, visa and healthcare services, the Dubai Media Office said in a social media post.
DHA said the agreement’s areas of cooperation include enhancing electronic integration with the health insurance system and launching proactive patient services.
Medical visas in the UAE are valid for 90 or 180 days for single or multiple entries.
Medical tourism brought nearly AED1 billion ($272 million) to Dubai in 2022, according to the most recent reported figures from DHA.
