Muda, PSM form Progressive Bloc for Johor and N. Sembilan state polls

KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) and the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) have agreed to form a political collaboration known as the Progressive Bloc ahead of the Johor and Negri Sembilan state elections, according to a joint media statement.

The statement said both parties had reached a consensus to work together throughout the election campaign period.

According to the joint press release by Muda and PSM, the Progressive Bloc will focus on presenting progressive policy proposals to voters in both states.

It said the proposed policies are forward-looking and centred on public welfare regardless of race, in line with the Federal Constitution.

Among the key policy pillars outlined are cost-of-living solutions aimed at easing economic pressures, the creation of quality jobs with better wages and job security, and a stronger emphasis on environmental sustainability and climate action.

The bloc also highlighted affordable housing reform to ensure fair access to housing across all communities, as well as institutional reform to strengthen transparency, good governance and integrity in government administration.

The cooperation also covers coordination of campaign issues, joint election machinery efforts, and strategic planning on seat allocation, aimed at avoiding clashes between parties with similar progressive agendas.

Both parties said they remain open to discussions with other political parties or groups that share similar progressive goals.

“Marilah kita bersepakat demi memajukan negeri yang tercinta ini,” the statement added.
