A source said MIC would likely contest two seats in the Negeri Sembilan polls.
PETALING JAYA: MIC will defend the Kemelah and Kahang seats in the upcoming Johor state election.
Quoting a source, Bernama reported that the Indian-based party would once again vie for the Bukit Batu seat.
S Suppayah lost the battle for the Bukit Batu seat to Pakatan Harapan’s Arthur Chiong by 137 votes.
MIC will however swap the Tenggaroh seat with Umno and contest in Perling.
“There will be at least two new faces for the polls,” Bernama quoted the source as saying.
Earlier this month, Johor MIC chairman and Tenggaroh assemblyman K Raven Kumar told FMT that the party was looking to contest four seats in the state election.
Separately, the source also said that MIC would likely contest two seats in the Negeri Sembilan polls.
The Election Commission has set July 11 and Aug 1 as polling days for the 16th Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections respectively.
EC chairman Ramlan Harun said nominations would be held on June 27 in Johor and July 18 in Negeri Sembilan, following the dissolution of the state assemblies earlier this month.
