Still tucking cash into your kid’s wallet before every school trip and hoping for the best? Or maybe they’re heading on exchange, and you’d love to top up their wallet without the worry of it all disappearing on day one. We get it. You want independence for them, peace of mind for you, and the best rates for both. That’s exactly why we created YouTrip Family.
Here’s everything you need to know
YouTrip Family is a travel card for your kids, set up through a dedicated Child account within your YouTrip app.
Your child can now spend and manage their own expenses using their own card (in Singapore or overseas), while you get full visibility and control through your YouTrip app.
Best of all, it’s completely free to use, works in 150+ countries with zero FX fees, and you can add up to 10 children aged 7-18 (1 card per child) under a single account.

*T&Cs apply.
Setting up a Child account takes minutes from your YouTrip app:
That’s the whole flow. No paperwork, no in-branch visits.
Note: Currently, YouTrip Family is available to Singapore Citizens only. Permanent Residents and other Singapore-based pass holders will be eligible to apply for a Child account from September 2026 onwards.
Once the card is in your child’s hands, everything runs from the parental controls inside your YouTrip app:
Instant card freeze — Lock and unlock your child’s card any time. Handy if they’ve lost it at the food court, or if they’re getting a little too enthusiastic on TikTok purchases.
Real-time transaction alerts — Receive a push notification the moment a purchase goes through, with the merchant name and amount.
Flexible top-ups — Add funds from your YouTrip SGD balance (the main method), via PayNow, or from a linked debit/credit card. Note: Only one parent can be linked to the Child account for top-ups.
Low balance alerts — Set a minimum balance threshold, and we’ll let you know when it’s time to top up, so they’re never stranded mid-purchase.
Transaction-type controls — Enable or disable specific spending categories, giving you control over where and how the card can be used. The YouTrip app is optional for children — the card can still be used without it. But if they download their own YouTrip app, they can check their balance, track their own spending, exchange currencies, lock their card if it’s misplaced, reset their Card PIN, and personalise their profile with a passcode and avatar.
That last bit matters more than it sounds. Letting your kid see their own balance is half the financial literacy lesson. It’s the first time most kids encounter the real mechanics of money in, money out.
YouTrip Family cards are free. Add up to 10 cards for children aged 7–18 at no extra charge, with one physical card issued per child. A S$10 replacement fee applies if you need to reissue a card (same as a standard YouTrip card).
In your YouTrip app, switch to your Child’s account and tap “Top up”. You can top up using your YouTrip SGD balance, PayNow QR, or a linked debit/credit card. Only the linked parent can top up a YouTrip Family Child account.
Yes. You can enable or disable specific transaction types, set transaction or low balance alerts, and lock or unlock the card at any time via the YouTrip app.
Nope — it’s optional. The card works fine without it. If your child does download it, they can check their balance, track their own spending, exchange currencies, lock their card if misplaced, reset their PIN, and personalise their profile.
