BN candidate says Senggarang housing and tourism plans will continue if re-elected

BATU PAHAT, July 3 — Senggarang state seat incumbent Mohd Yusla Ismail wants to continue the initiatives planned for the area if given the mandate once again in the Johor state election, with a focus on home ownership among younger people and the development of the tourism sector.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the seat said the initiatives are not merely a manifesto that emerges during election season, but rather a continuation of plans he had identified throughout his tenure as the elected representative.

He said that his priorities include helping more young people own homes through the Johor Affordable Housing (RMMJ) project, and ensuring they are exposed to a simpler application process via the online system.

“We will try to help these young people apply for the RMMJ so that those eligible can own their own homes and not be too dependent on family members or forced to rent once they are married and have their own families.

“In the Senggarang area, we have also identified several locations that can be developed under the RMMJ project,” he told Bernama after visiting residents in Kampung Petani here today.

Besides housing, Mohd Yusla said he also wants to continue efforts to develop the local tourism sector, which he believes can stimulate the local economy.

He said several areas in Senggarang, such as Pantai Minyak Beku, Pantai Sungai Lurus and Pantai Perpat, have huge potential to be developed as tourism and recreational destinations by improving facilities and infrastructure.

“When these areas become focal points for development activities, opportunities for local residents to improve their economy through the production of local products will emerge and continue to grow,” he said.

The Senggarang state seat will see a three-cornered tussle, with Mohd Yusla challenged by Onn Abu Bakar of PH and Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Polling is on July 11, with early voting fixed for July 7.
