BNB Chain wrapped up its Bengaluru hackathon on March 3, awarding $10,000 in cash prizes across three winning teams from a pool of 79 submissions. The two-day event marked the latest stop in the network's Local Hack series, which has already hit Abu Dhabi and Buenos Aires.

Yamata, a prediction market aggregator featuring leverage through lending and borrowing mechanics, took first place. Ghost, an onchain private transaction system with gas sponsorship for BSC, landed second. Spacecraft, another prediction market aggregator with autonomous trading capabilities, rounded out the podium.

Beyond Cash Prizes

The money's almost secondary here. Winners secured Kickstart ecosystem support valued at up to $50,000, fast-track interviews for BNB Chain's MVB accelerator program through EASY Residency, and—here's the real prize—access to potential investment from the $1 billion Builder Fund that BNB Chain and YZi Labs announced with the Local Hack series launch.

NodeOps and Fluxor partnered on the event, providing hands-on mentorship covering smart contract architecture, AI agent development, tokenomics, and pitch refinement. Teams iterated live, pressure-testing assumptions with experienced builders rather than polishing decks in isolation.

India's Web3 Moment

A panel discussion addressed the elephant in the room: can you build a global Web3 company from India? The consensus from attendees was yes, but it requires thinking internationally from day one rather than treating global expansion as a phase-two problem.

This matters for BNB Chain's broader strategy. The network reported handling 25% of global stablecoin activity as of late February, and its recently unveiled 2026 roadmap targets 20,000 TPS. Cultivating developer talent in emerging markets like India feeds that growth engine.

Market Context

BNB trades at $634.08, up 2.7% over 24 hours, with market cap sitting at $86.45 billion. The token has held relatively steady as the network continues pushing ecosystem development initiatives.

The Local Hack format compresses what typically takes months of remote iteration into 48 hours of focused building. Whether Yamata, Ghost, or Spacecraft actually ship production-ready products remains to be seen—hackathon demos and sustainable protocols are different beasts entirely.

Still, BNB Chain's approach of combining cash prizes with meaningful ecosystem access (that $50K support package and Builder Fund pipeline) creates stronger incentives than most hackathons offer. The next Local Hack location hasn't been announced, but given the cadence so far, expect another stop within weeks.
