Demonic edit to Trump's 'blasphemous' Jesus meme bewilders onlookers: 'What is that?'

President Donald Trump faced intense MAGA backlash Monday after sharing an image depicting himself as a Jesus Christ-like figure — but internet sleuths have since spotted an odd alteration to the original image that left some onlookers disturbed.

The image in question was first published in early February by Nick Adams, a devoted and loyal Trump supporter who the president appointed as his special envoy for American tourism in March.

The image depicts Trump wearing a white robe and a red sash — garb commonly associated with Christ — healing a sick man with his hand, which is bathed in light. Appearing to have been created using generative artificial intelligence, the image also depicts winged U.S. service members in the sky above the Christ-like Trump.

Trump shared the image Sunday night on his social media platform Truth Social, before it was quickly taken down as many of his supporters blasted it as "blasphemous."

But the post had one notable edit: one of the U.S. service members had been swapped with a winged human-like figure appearing to have three horns.

“Sorry, what is… that?” asked Russian-American journalist Julie Ioffe, highlighting the horned-figure added to the image depicting Trump as Christ.

“The original didn't include this. The White House added it,” noted German-Palestinian filmmaker Lexi Alexander, adding that she suspected the horned-figure to be Abaddon, an angel of destruction described in the New Testament.

It is unknown whether it was Trump who posted the image to social media or a White House staffer, with the White House having issued conflicting comments on whether Truth Social posts are all directly from the president. A senior White House official blamed a staffer for having posted a racist video depicting former President Barack Obama as an ape, whereas White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later said all Truth Social posts are “directly from President Trump.”

“Someone in the Trump camp decided it would be wise to alter it to add a demon and repost,” noted X user “Based Millennial Mommy,” a political commentator and child advocate, in a social media post on X to her nearly 12,000 followers.
