One of President Donald Trump's biographers sees his recent rants as getting further from reality.

Speaking on the "Inside Trump's Head" podcast, biographer Michael Wolff co-host Joanna Coles said that things are growing worse fast.

“If you stop seeing it as a reasonable enterprise—that is a civil emergency,” Wolff said, sounding the alarm.

As Trump grows increasingly foul-mouthed, Wolff sees it as mental deterioration, and it's happening during the daylight hours rather than late at night, when Trump would typically post his rants.

He posed the question about whether Trump was "crazy, which I think is suddenly an open season question."

Wolff explained that the New York Times piece that finally asked the question about the president's mental stability was a shock because it had come after a decade of the paper treating Trump like a normal president using "New York Times tones." According to the author, the Times "almost got there" by calling out his "erratic" behavior that "would be cause for, shall we say, concern."

Wolff conceded that Trump has always been this way and that it has been going on for a decade, "but it is coming faster and more furious in these past number of weeks, probably prompted by the war, which is going terribly, of course, and he doesn't know what to do and he doesn't know how to get out of it. But also, I think, prompted by a whole set of other things."

He cited the clashes in Minnesota with ICE and the failing economy as part of a growing set of problems. Another problem, Wolf said, are "the dimwits that surround him, which he has now been forced to fire. So, I think, he is in a corner, and that has meant he’s flailing out erratically."

Last weekend, Trump threatened to kill "a whole civilization," which has prompted questions about whether the man with the nuclear codes has gone too far. What he's saying is “more and more distinct from, cut off from, separate from reality.”

Then he posted the infamous Jesus meme and tried to claim that only the "fake news" would see it as Jesus.

"And now he's got some conspiracy theory that because [former President Barack] Obama is from Chicago, Obama is somehow running the Pope," Wolff continued.

“And so that would be another indication of erratic behavior, another indication that he is in this place and reality is in this place, which would be alarming,” the author said, referring to examples beyond TruthSocial.

“We have seen 10 years of erratic behavior, but I think it is coming faster and more furious in these past number of weeks, probably prompted by the war, which is going terribly, of course, and he doesn’t know what to do, and he doesn’t know how to get out of it,” Wolff said.

As the author has said previously, he believes Trump is attempting to run the U.S. as if it were a reality show. He wondered if it was "just little bursts, mini-stroke-like bursts in his head."

While people like former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) have been flagging the president's decline, so have loyalists like Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Alex Jones, and now the New York Times.

He mentioned former Secretary Hillary Clinton, "who, for the most part, has kept her head down, popped up yesterday to say there is something really wrong here."

Another good example, Wolff said, is to look at the faces of the people around him. People like Secretary of State Marco Rubio

"He looks terrified, puzzled, confused, bewildered, having to deal with this strange creature of Donald Trump. You saw them at the fight match on Saturday as JD Vance was coming back with nothing gained as yet from the talks in Pakistan. Where was Donald Trump? He was in a UFC fight with Marco Rubio, showing him texts on his phone," said Wolff.

He mentioned that there are plenty of people in the U.S. who have had a family member or older friend show signs of a sudden decline and recognize it in the president.

"What you see is that your behavior pattern, your kind of strange, more extreme behavior patterns, which you might have displayed all through your life, suddenly become more pronounced, more extreme, more frequent. And I think that that's obviously what we're seeing," said Wolff.
