LaFleur Minerals (CSE: LFLR) (OTCQB: LFLRF) has reported a significant gold discovery at its Swanson Gold Project in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, with drill results showing extensive gold mineralization extending well below the limits of the company’s March mineral resource estimate. The results, which include intercepts of 1.18 g/t Au over 255.04 meters, 1.65 g/t Au over 136.01 meters, and 2.29 g/t Au over 68.30 meters, confirm a laterally continuous gold system at vertical depths of approximately 300 to 450 meters.
The company’s March mineral resource estimate had already shown a 30% increase in indicated gold ounces compared to the previous estimate, establishing 160,300 ounces at 1.69 g/t Au in indicated resources and additional inferred resources. The new drill holes, targeting a 120-meter strike length, demonstrate that the mineralization remains robust and open for expansion. This discovery suggests the potential for a district-scale gold system at Swanson, located near Val d’Or, Quebec, a region with established mining infrastructure and a skilled labor force.
LaFleur also owns the nearby Beacon Gold Mill, which is being prepared to resume operations later this quarter. The company plans to initially process on-site stockpile material and mineralized material from Swanson, with a target to scale from 750 metric tons per day to 1,250 TPD by 2027. Longer-term, the company aims to increase capacity toward 3,000 or 4,000 TPD, supported by financing and offtake terms from Trafigura. These developments position LaFleur as a near-term gold producer in the prolific Abitibi belt.
The implications of this discovery are significant for LaFleur’s growth trajectory. The expanded mineralization not only enhances the resource base but also provides confidence in the company’s ability to feed the Beacon mill with high-grade material. The Abitibi region has historically been one of Canada’s most productive gold mining areas, and the continuity of mineralization at depth suggests the potential for a long-life operation. Investors and industry observers will be watching closely as LaFleur transitions from explorer to producer.
