New details emerge as Trump Cabinet member testifies on Epstein ties

New information was revealed on Wednesday about the relationship between Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and late financier and convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Following a closed-door hearing with Lutnick and the House Oversight Committee, a person familiar with the matter told MS NOW several details that emerged in the transcribed interview.

"Lutnick said he only had 3 meetings with Jeffrey Epstein," MS NOW Congressional reporter Mychael Schnell wrote in a post on X. "Lutnick said he and his wife met Epstein at his home for coffee after they became neighbors. Epstein gave him a tour, which is when he saw the massage table. At that time, Lutnuck [SIC] decided he didn't want a personal or professional relationship with Epstein."

The Trump official told lawmakers that he and his family were invited to Epstein's home for lunch when they were visiting the U.S. Virgin Islands.

"They had a short lunch. Lutnick said he didn't know how Epstein's assistant new [SIC] he was in the USVI and found that unsettling," Schnell wrote.

Lutnick also said he discussed a project on Epstein's New York City home that required scaffolding and met with him to talk about how it might impact Lutnick as his neighbor.

"Lutnick also said he never saw Epstein with young women and never witnessed anything inappropriate with young women," Schnell added.

The Trump ally has been facing increasing scrutiny over his claims that he cut ties with Epstein after questions were raised when an image in the Department of Justice's Epstein files release featured a man who appeared to be Lutnick walking on Epstein's island.
