'Smuggled human teeth': Epstein’s heir exposed for bizarre – and 'likely' illegal – act

Karnya Shuliak, Jeffrey Epstein’s “last partner and main heiress,” was exposed Friday by veteran journalist Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez for “likely" engaging in an illegal scheme – one that involved smuggling 50 human teeth into the United States.

In a report published on her Substack Friday, Valdes-Rodriguez detailed a peculiar email hidden within the Justice Department’s release of millions of Epstein-related files. Addressed to Shuliak, the email in question was sent in October of 2017 from Rajesh Kannan, an Indian dentist who in 2019 was reported to possess the single “largest collection of extracted human teeth.”

“Hi payments received for 50 anteriors,” reads an Oct. 22, 2017 email from Kannan to Shuliak, a reference to anterior teeth, which refer to incisors and canines, or teeth at the front of the mouth. “Reply with full shipping address with mobile number.bye”

Shuliak responded to the email by providing her address and phone number, and on Oct. 30, 2017, Kannan responded with instructions for the apparent delivery of the teeth.

“hi the tooth parcel has arrived usa and you will receive them soon. further in order to avoid loss of teeth due to postal inspection wehave attached all teeth to a cardboard with fevicol,” Kannan wrote, referencing a popular Indian brand of synthetic white adhesive. “it will look likea beautiful picture. remove all teeth and put them in hot boilingwater for 20 minutes and using a clean cloth wipe them”

Shuliak is a licensed dentist, having attended Columbia University’s dental school after “Epstein bribed two of the school’s leaders with more than $600,000” when her initial application was rejected, Valdes-Rodriguez wrote. However, Shuliak had graduated dental school in 2015, leaving her “no legitimate dental procedures” that would require extracted human teeth, Valdes-Rodriguez wrote, based on “experts” she spoke with.

As to what Shuliak would need 50 human teeth for, Valdes-Rodriguez was at a loss, though she did present one potential use for them outside of dentistry.

"So what was Shuliak doing with all those (very expensive) smuggled human teeth? We do not know. But experts I spoke to agree: No legitimate dental procedure uses extracted human teeth."

She continued, “What we do know is this: Anterior teeth, the kind Shuliak smuggled into the United States from India, are among the highest-quality sources of human DNA. The pulp, protected by enamel, preserves genetic material with exceptional reliability long after death,” Valdes-Rodriguez wrote.

“Forensic identification of human remains relies heavily on dental DNA precisely because teeth outlast virtually every other biological material. A licensed dentist with access to human teeth sourced outside regulated channels – obtained from a black market supplier who coaches buyers on evading postal inspection – possesses a capability that extends well beyond dental practice.”

Valdes-Rodriguez noted that smuggling human biological specimens into the United States through deliberate deception is “a federal offense under 18 USC 542, carrying up to two years imprisonment.”

Hailing from Belarus, Shuliak gained her U.S. citizenship through what Valdes-Rodriguez described as a "fraudulent marriage arranged by Jeffrey Epstein.” Epstein had also changed his will just two days before his death in 2019 to leave “most of his estate” to Shuliak.
