LRT-2 Legarda Station offers free parking for train passengers

MANILA, Philippines – Passengers of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRT-2) can now park their vehicles at its Legarda Station.

This comes a month after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) opened the parking of LRT-2 Santolan Station for its passengers.

Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez said this initiative will help ease traffic congestion, lessen the demand for fuel, and make travel time faster.

Similar to LRT-2 Santolan Station, the complimentary parking is available daily from 4 am to 11:30 pm on a first-come, first-served basis. Overnight parking is not allowed.

A parking stub must be secured from security personnel at the parking area.

Passengers can then proceed and ride LRT-2. Upon reaching their destination station, the parking stub must be validated at the Passenger Assistance Office. Validation of this parking stub is not available at Legarda Station.

Before exiting the parking area, the validated parking stub must be presented to security personnel.

DOTr has been promoting public transportation, especially amid the Middle East crisis, which triggered a spike in fuel prices. Since March, the government has been subsidizing the fare for LRT-2 and MRT-3, offering 50% to passengers. – Rappler.com
