They are becoming very hostile… I will be forced, as President of the United States of America, to financially counter their move… One of the policies we are calculating at this moment is a massive increase of tariffs on Chinese products coming into the United States. There are many other countermeasures that are likewise under serious consideration,” wrote Trump on Truth Social. Beijing’s move to introduce additional export restrictions is a continuation of similar policies that made headlines in April this year, when the East Asian country began zoning in on key minerals.  Under the new rules, though, the measures could also apply to products containing only traces of the materials. In other words, they could disrupt supply chains for materials essential to U.S. defense, robotics, and electric vehicles (EV) industries. America still dependent on China

Over the weekend, analysts pointed out the surge underscored America’s heavy dependence on the Asian powerhouse, which supplies around 70% of U.S. rare earth imports. 

Accordingly, the 100% tariffs mentioned by Trump could not only raise costs for U.S. manufacturers reliant on these imports but also accelerate efforts to promote domestic mining and production.

The new markets will open on October 13, after regulatory approval.  CME Group will expand its crypto products with options on the futures markets of Solana (SOL) and XRP. The futures market will start on October 13, after regulatory review and approval.  The options will allow the trading of MicroSol, XRP, and MicroXRP futures, with expiry dates available every business day, monthly, and quarterly. The new products will be added to the existing BTC and ETH options markets. ‘The launch of these options contracts builds on the significant growth and increasing liquidity we have seen across our suite of Solana and XRP futures,’ said Giovanni Vicioso, CME Group Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products. The options contracts will have two main sizes, tracking the futures contracts. The new market will be suitable for sophisticated institutional traders, as well as active individual traders. The addition of options markets singles out XRP and SOL as liquid enough to offer the potential to bet on a market direction.  The options on futures arrive a few months after the launch of SOL futures. Both SOL and XRP had peak volumes in August, though XRP activity has slowed down in September.
