North Charleston-based OhmIQ debuted InstIQ™ and SteamIQ™, two new technology systems designed to eliminate a centuries-old heating challenge, at the Host 2025 conference in Milan, Italy.

Charleston, S.C. (October 28, 2025) OhmIQ, a Charleston-based company and leader in ohmic conduction technology, made a successful international debut at Host Milan, the world’s premier trade fair for the restaurant and hospitality industry. The company unveiled two groundbreaking products—InstIQ™ and SteamIQ™—which eliminate limescale buildup in commercial coffee equipment while delivering significant energy and cost savings.

The launch generated substantial media attention, including a featured segment on TG5, Italy’s national television network, showcasing the significance of OhmIQ’s newest technology. Throughout the five-day event, OhmIQ conducted multiple interviews and engaged in strategic conversations that opened pathways for expanding the company’s ohmic technology into industries across the globe.

A significant highlight of Host Milan was OhmIQ’s partnership with UNIC Espresso. OhmIQ showcased its technology, which integrated directly into UNIC’s espresso machine on the exhibition floor. The live demonstration attracted considerable attention from coffee professionals and equipment manufacturers, illustrating the commercial viability of OhmIQ’s heating solutions.

InstIQ™ is a compact tankless water-heating system designed for coffee machines and hot beverage dispensers, while SteamIQ™ is a high-performance steam solution for espresso machines, roasters, and commercial food equipment. InstIQ™ heats water in just 40 seconds, enabling coffee professionals to serve beverages made with fresh water while reducing annual operating costs by at least $1,145 per machine. SteamIQ™ features no moving parts and delivers faster steam production than conventional systems, increasing equipment lifespan while reducing the risk of mechanical failures. Both systems leverage OhmIQ’s proprietary Ohmic Array Technology, which eliminates limescale buildup and the need for traditional heating elements that accumulate mineral deposits and fail prematurely.

“Within a decade, ohmic heating will be a leading technology integrated into most new heating systems produced around the world,” said Frederique Pirenne, CEO of OhmIQ. “The response at Host Milan has been extraordinary, and our partnership with UNIC Espresso demonstrates the impact of this technology.”

Host Milan marks OhmIQ’s first significant appearance in the European market and signals the company’s expanding global presence. Following successful product launches in the energy sector earlier this year, OhmIQ is now bringing its technology to the food and beverage industry, where limescale buildup has been an unsolved challenge for centuries.

Based in North Charleston, OhmIQ has rapidly grown since its founding in 2022. Supported by 126 global patents, the company harnesses ohmic heating solutions that prioritize speed, precision, and energy efficiency. OhmIQ’s technology is reshaping industries like food and beverage with scalable, sustainable heating solutions.
