MANILA, Philippines – Six journalists, including Rappler’s senior reporters Lian Buan and Dwight de Leon, join the panel of the prestigious Jaime V. Ongpin Journalism Seminar 2025 on Thursday, November 27.
The event will tackle “radical changes in the landscape of news and the future of journalism,” according to a press release by the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR), which mounts the seminar.
Buan and de Leon are joined by Cristina Chi of online news outlet Philstar.com, former Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism executive director and ex-Rappler reporter Carmela Fonbuena, TV5 chief data and elections head Edson Guido, and Dominic Gutoman of alternative news publication Bulatlat.
JVOJS is named after the late Jaime V. Ongpin, the press freedom advocate who opposed the excesses of the Ferdinand E. Marcos regime and later became Corazon Aquino’s finance secretary.
