MANILA, Philippines – The International Criminal Court (ICC) appeals chamber will issue its decision on Friday, November 28, on the interim release request of former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte.
Interim release is temporary freedom, which Duterte lost at the level of the pre-trial chamber level in October after three judges decided he possessed all three risk factors. He elevated it to the appeals chamber, the last court at the ICC, which is composed of a different set of five judges.
Duterte is facing three counts of crimes against humanity of murder, one count each per context, representing 49 incidents of killings, with 78 victims. These cover the war on drugs and the Davao Death Squad.
The hearing will begin at 5:30 pm Manila time. – Rappler.com
