Six weeks removed from disc replacement surgery, Tiger Woods announced that he has been cleared to chip and putt during an interview with the PGA Tour at the Hero World Challenge.

“I’m probably going to play 25 events on both tours,” Woods joked. “I’m a ways away from that part of it, from that commitment level.”

Tiger and Charlie Woods also announced that they will not be participating in this year’s PNC Championship. The father-son team lost in a playoff to Bernhard Langer in the 2024 tournament. Recent injuries, including Tiger’s disc replacement and Achilles tendon repair, have kept him out of competitive golf throughout 2025.

Tiger called their PNC run the thrill of a lifetime. Charlie called it the most fun he has ever had on a golf course.

“It’s not even close,” Charlie said, after following his first eagle with his first ace on the front nine Sunday at the PNC Championship.

There are now serious questions about Woods’s ability to play in the TGL simulator league beginning later this month. The team of Kevin Kisner, Tom Kim, and Max Homa faces an uphill battle without its headline star. In addition, not a single player on Jupiter Links retained their PGA Tour card through the FedEx Fall season.

“I just got cleared to chip and putt last week,” Woods said. “It’s been six weeks last Friday. It’s been slow. You can’t really do much after a disc replacement—you have to let it set.”

Woods did not offer specifics about his plans for a competitive return, though he did emphasize a desire to play golf again in some capacity. This marks a contrast to comments from former playing partners, who recently called for increased capacity at Champions Tour events in anticipation of a potential Woods debut. Tiger Woods will turn 50 on December 30 of this year.

UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach

The post UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. British crypto holders may soon face a very different landscape as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) moves to expand its regulatory reach in the industry. A new consultation paper outlines how the watchdog intends to apply its rulebook to crypto firms, shaping everything from asset safeguarding to trading platform operation. According to the financial regulator, these proposals would translate into clearer protections for retail investors and stricter oversight of crypto firms. UK FCA plans Until now, UK crypto users mostly encountered the FCA through rules on promotions and anti-money laundering checks. The consultation paper goes much further. It proposes direct oversight of stablecoin issuers, custodians, and crypto-asset trading platforms (CATPs). For investors, that means the wallets, exchanges, and coins they rely on could soon be subject to the same governance and resilience standards as traditional financial institutions. The regulator has also clarified that firms need official authorization before serving customers. This condition should, in theory, reduce the risk of sudden platform failures or unclear accountability. David Geale, the FCA’s executive director of payments and digital finance, said the proposals are designed to strike a balance between innovation and protection. He explained: “We want to develop a sustainable and competitive crypto sector – balancing innovation, market integrity and trust.” Geale noted that while the rules will not eliminate investment risks, they will create consistent standards, helping consumers understand what to expect from registered firms. Why does this matter for crypto holders? The UK regulatory framework shift would provide safer custody of assets, better disclosure of risks, and clearer recourse if something goes wrong. However, the regulator was also frank in its submission, arguing that no rulebook can eliminate the volatility or inherent risks of holding digital assets. Instead, the focus is on ensuring that when consumers choose to invest, they do…
