PANews reported on December 30th that, according to Macau radio, a local woman was suspected of falling victim to a cryptocurrency investment scam, transferring a total of HK$1.18 million to a designated account in eight separate transactions starting in mid-September. The platform account showed a profit of HK$7.9 million, but upon withdrawal, she was asked to pay a HK$250,000 exchange rate difference. She subsequently lost contact with customer service on December 20th. Another elderly man was also suspected of being scammed, losing HK$80,000.
