Anthropic is in discussions to raise $10 billion in new funding at a pre-money valuation of $350 billion. The financing would mark a substantial increase from the AI company’s previous valuation just months earlier.
The artificial intelligence startup was valued at $183 billion in September 2024. The new valuation represents a 91% increase in less than five months. Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and Coatue Management are expected to lead the investment round.
Sources familiar with the discussions say the deal could close in the coming weeks. The final amount of the funding round may still change before completion.
Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei founded Anthropic in 2021. Dario Amodei previously worked as a researcher at Google and OpenAI. The company has built Claude, an AI chatbot that competes directly with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Business users have adopted Claude for its coding abilities and other enterprise applications. The chatbot has helped Anthropic establish itself as a major player in the competitive AI market.
Nvidia and Microsoft have committed to investing up to $15 billion in Anthropic beyond this funding round. The investment includes a deal for Anthropic to purchase $30 billion in compute capacity from Microsoft Azure. The computing infrastructure will run on Nvidia’s AI systems.
Anthropic previously raised $13 billion in September 2024 in a Series F round. ICONIQ Capital, Fidelity Management & Research Company, and Lightspeed Venture Partners co-led that investment. The company has now raised tens of billions from multiple investors.
The AI industry saw record investment levels in 2025. Companies in the sector raised $222 billion throughout the year according to PitchBook. This figure more than doubled the total raised in 2024.
AI companies captured approximately 50% of all global venture capital in 2025. This compares to 34% in 2024. Crunchbase data shows similar trends with slightly different total figures.
OpenAI raised the year’s largest single funding round with $40 billion in March 2025. SoftBank backed the investment. Four other AI companies raised more than $5 billion each including Anthropic, Scale AI, Project Prometheus, and Elon Musk’s xAI.
Anthropic projects it will reach break-even status in 2028. This timeline would allow the company to achieve profitability faster than OpenAI. The company has announced plans to go public in 2025.
OpenAI is separately pursuing additional funding. The ChatGPT developer aims to raise up to $100 billion at a pre-money valuation of $750 billion.
