PANews reported on January 9th that Josh Swihart, a former core member of the Electric Coin Company (ECC) for Zcash, announced that his team has left the original ECC to form a new startup with the goal of expanding Zcash to billions of users. The new company will launch a new wallet, "cashZ," built on the Zashi codebase, and early access applications are now open (cashz.org). Swihart emphasized that privacy should be the norm in the digital world, and Zcash needs a "cyberpunk" organizational structure and scalable governance mechanisms to combat the trend of mass surveillance and achieve true global adoption.
