Tahir Javed had been targeted by business and political rival

HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–A Texas court has granted summary judgment in favor of prominent Texas entrepreneur, philanthropist, and politician Tahir Javed in a lawsuit involving a years-long campaign of misinformation targeting him.

On Jan. 20, 2026, Judge Kristen Brauchle Hawkins of the 11th Judicial District Court of Harris County ordered that Tanweer Ahmed’s remaining legal claims against Mr. Javed for breach of contract, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation be dismissed with prejudice.

The court had previously dismissed Mr. Ahmed’s claims for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, tortious interference, and conspiracy, and sanctioned Mr. Ahmed $10,000 to discourage him from filing future baseless lawsuits against Mr. Javed.

Mr. Ahmed, a Texas businessman and alleged political rival of Mr. Javed, originally sued Mr. Javed and several online media outlets, alleging that Mr. Javed had taken undue credit and upstaged him in high-profile American and Pakistani political events, defamed him, and otherwise attacked his character, integrity, and reputation.

Mr. Javed is currently pursuing counterclaims against Mr. Ahmed, alleging that Mr. Ahmed teamed up with disgraced Fort Bend politician Taral Patel to post fake and defamatory news articles on “pay-to-publish” websites financed by Mr. Ahmed. These counterclaims further allege that Mr. Patel posted articles under a fake Facebook profile in a scheme similar to the one he ran for his former boss, disgraced Fort Bend County Judge K.P. George, and for which Mr. Patel pled guilty to two misdemeanors.

Mr. Javed welcomed the court’s decision and issued the following statement: “For years, my family and I were harassed by fabricated articles and fake social media posts. When I said ‘enough is enough’ and investigated whether Ahmed and others were behind the scheme, Mr. Ahmed sued me on bogus claims to re-direct attention. I am grateful for the court’s decision to dismiss all of Mr. Ahmed’s claims against me, and I look forward to having a court and jury hold Mr. Ahmed accountable.”

The case is Ahmed v. Jago Times et al., Cause No. 2025-35033, in the 11th Judicial District Court of Harris County.

The post Fed Decides On Interest Rates Today—Here’s What To Watch For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Topline The Federal Reserve on Wednesday will conclude a two-day policymaking meeting and release a decision on whether to lower interest rates—following months of pressure and criticism from President Donald Trump—and potentially signal whether additional cuts are on the way. President Donald Trump has urged the central bank to “CUT INTEREST RATES, NOW, AND BIGGER” than they might plan to. Getty Images Key Facts The central bank is poised to cut interest rates by at least a quarter-point, down from the 4.25% to 4.5% range where they have been held since December to between 4% and 4.25%, as Wall Street has placed 100% odds of a rate cut, according to CME’s FedWatch, with higher odds (94%) on a quarter-point cut than a half-point (6%) reduction. Fed governors Christopher Waller and Michelle Bowman, both Trump appointees, voted in July for a quarter-point reduction to rates, and they may dissent again in favor of a large cut alongside Stephen Miran, Trump’s Council of Economic Advisers’ chair, who was sworn in at the meeting’s start on Tuesday. It’s unclear whether other policymakers, including Kansas City Fed President Jeffrey Schmid and St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem, will favor larger cuts or opt for no reduction. Fed Chair Jerome Powell said in his Jackson Hole, Wyoming, address last month the central bank would likely consider a looser monetary policy, noting the “shifting balance of risks” on the U.S. economy “may warrant adjusting our policy stance.” David Mericle, an economist for Goldman Sachs, wrote in a note the “key question” for the Fed’s meeting is whether policymakers signal “this is likely the first in a series of consecutive cuts” as the central bank is anticipated to “acknowledge the softening in the labor market,” though they may not “nod to an October cut.” Mericle said he…
