Ohana Development is to build a Manchester City-branded residential project along the Yas Canal waterfront in Abu Dhabi.
The multibillion-dirham Manchester City Yas Residences will cover 1.67 million square metres, according to Ohana, which said the project would be the “world’s first Manchester City-branded residential destination”.
Further details will be disclosed later, the Abu Dhabi-based developer said in a statement.
Ferran Soriano, CEO of the club’s parent company City Football Group, said the project would allow Ohana to harness Manchester City‘s global reach and its presence in the region. The club is owned by Abu Dhabi United Group.
Football-branded real estate projects have been gaining traction in the UAE. Damac Properties has linked up with another English Premier League club, Chelsea FC, to build Chelsea Residences at Dubai Maritime City.
The six-tower Chelsea project will house more than 1,400 waterfront homes, with starting prices of AED2.2 million ($590,000).
