Minnesota Republican brutally mocked for copy-paste blunder on social media

A Minnesota Republican lawmaker faced mockery and humiliation on Monday after he completely screwed up his social media statement on talks between Gov. Tim Walz and President Donald Trump to de-escalate the federal crackdown in Minneapolis.

Rep. Brad Finstad, who represents the southern portion of the state along the Iowa border, accidentally copy-pasted in not just the statement his staff wrote for him, but the message his staff sent to him explaining that the message they wrote for him was ready to go.

"Hi Brad. I am sending you a post on socials regarding the trump walz conversation, this has been approved by staff," said his post. "Will be using the picture attached and caption for all three platforms. Caption: Thank you, President Trump and Governor Walz. I am pleased to see these recent developments. The only way to a resolution is through productiveconversations. Public safety shouldn't be partisan, and cooperation is how we deliver real results for our communities. Real leadership means putting law and order above politics."

It is relatively common for members of Congress to have their social media posts written and approved by their staff, particularly on their official government accounts. However, the timing of the blunder earned him ridicule on social media.

"Imagine being a congressman from Minnesota and caring so little about what’s happening here that you just copy and paste talking points," wrote Jake Johnson, a candidate for his seat. "If you’re not writing your own statements and you’re not holding town halls, what exactly are we paying you for?"

"Look at this post Brad Finstadt [sic] tried to send out.. just copying and pasting what he is told.. more people need to know how bad he is at his 'job'" wrote the account @rentzbj.
