Kris Marszalek, CEO and co-founder of Crypto.com, has made a bold move into artificial intelligence. He purchased the premium domain AI.com for $70 million, paid entirely in cryptocurrency.
Domain expert Larry Fischer brokered the deal. The purchase sets a new record for domain sales and places Marszalek at the center of the growing agentic AI movement.
The platform will debut on February 8, 2026, with a Super Bowl LX commercial. It aims to bring advanced AI tools to everyday users.
Marszalek bought AI.com in April 2025 after it was listed for $100 million. He turned down resale offers, calling the domain a long-term investment. “I see this as a good investment in what I expect to be one of the most significant technological waves over the next 10 to 20 years,” he said.

The $70 million purchase eclipses the previous record of $30 million for Voice.com in 2019. Fischer confirmed the transaction was paid in cryptocurrency to an undisclosed seller.
The deal highlights the growing role of digital assets in high-value transactions. Marszalek previously acquired Crypto.com for an estimated $5–12 million and built it into a global brand with over 100 million users.
AI.com is set to launch during Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026. The Kansas City Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers, and the ad will air on NBC. The commercial is expected to showcase the platform’s user-friendly interface and real-world applications.
“I purchased ai.com in April. Since that time, we have created a team that has been steadily building. There are always twists and turns, but I’m excited about our first launch this Sunday during the Super Bowl,” Marszalek announced on X.
The landing page currently features a countdown clock. Industry analysts compare the move to Crypto.com’s 2021 naming rights deal for the Staples Center, now Crypto.com Arena. The Super Bowl ad could reach more than 100 million viewers, giving the platform instant visibility.
AI.com promises a decentralized network of autonomous AI agents. These agents will perform tasks such as organizing schedules, sending messages, building projects, trading stocks, and updating profiles. They are designed to act independently and improve themselves over time.
The mission statement on the teaser page reads: “accelerate the arrival of AGI [artificial general intelligence] by building a decentralized network of autonomous, self-improving agents.”
Improvements made by one agent will be shared across the network, creating collective intelligence. The approach mirrors blockchain principles, aligning with Marszalek’s crypto background. He sees AI.com as a major technological wave for the next 10 to 20 years.
Crypto-related AI projects have grown by 150% in market cap since early 2025. Marszalek’s venture enters a competitive field with companies like Anthropic and xAI. AI.com aims to stand out by focusing on consumer accessibility and user-specific encryption keys.
Critics, however, question whether the $70 million price tag reflects hype rather than substance. “It’s a massive bet on ‘agentic AI,’ but making it a household staple will require more than a Super Bowl splash,” noted one fintech analyst. Some see the move as a bold coup, while others doubt if a Super Bowl launch alone can make it a household staple.
