J6 rioter convicted of molesting child after being pardoned by Trump

Pardoned Jan. 6 rioter Andrew Paul Johnson was convicted of five counts, including molesting a child under 12 and exposing himself to children.

NPR reported that Johnson was found guilty by a jury in Hernando County, Florida, on Tuesday. He faces up to life in prison, according to prosecutor William Forgie.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office described a pattern of abuse that took place "over a many-month span" in its police report.

The pardoned rioter attempted to bribe one victim with money he said he would receive as restitution from his conviction for storming the U.S. Capitol, police said.

After rioting at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Johnson described himself as an "American Terrorist" and "Proud J6er." Prosecutors accused him of violating court orders by posing with a gun during his criminal case.

After being sworn into office for his second term, President Donald Trump pardoned Johnson for breaking into the Capitol.
