An Israeli civilian and an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reservist have been indicted for using unauthorized military information to place bets on Polymarket.
The indictment was filed on Monday at the Tel Aviv District Court. The authorities claimed that the two parties exploited sensitive ‘wartime intelligence’ in order to make profit from wagers related to Israeli military operations in Iran in June 2025.
The case first started after reports were submitted that Israeli authorities were examining whether insider information had been used to gain an advantage when predicting the market tied to national security events.

According to the court, the matter on the polymarket trade raised serious operational-security concerns during the period of active conflict. Officials said the actions of the suspects posed a potential threat to military secrecy and also public trust.

At first, there was a strict silence order placed on the investigation. However, after the court lifted the order, it allowed the publication of a prosecution-approved summary of the central allegations and the agencies involved in the case.

Investigation and Charges Against the Illegal Polymarket Trade

Immediately after the investigation was completed, the two suspects were arrested in a joint operation involving the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), a Defense Ministry investigative unit, and the Israel Police.

Investigators believe that some of the reservists used their secret information they acquired during their time in the military to gamble on when exactly the attacks would happen.
Finally, the prosecutors involved in the case shared that evidence was found linking both the civilian and the reservist to the alleged scheme. They plan to charge them with serious security offenses, including charges of bribery and obstruction of justice.

Authorities have not disclosed any further details about the defendants, the exact nature of the wagers, or how the information was allegedly obtained, which highlights the legal restrictions involved in dealing with a case as sensitive as this
