TLDR

  • MoonPay introduced MoonPay Agents to enable autonomous systems to manage wallets and execute crypto transactions.
  • The new product allows AI agents to trade assets and move funds once users complete identity verification.
  • MoonPay Agents operate through the MoonPay CLI and follow a non-custodial design that keeps wallet control with users.
  • The system supports recurring purchases and cross-chain swaps for automated strategies.
  • MoonPay added support for the x402 standard to enable machine-to-machine payments.

MoonPay introduced a new software layer that lets autonomous agents hold wallets and move funds, and it expands the firm’s reach into AI-driven payments as users seek faster automation, positioning the company to support machine-based financial activity with direct onchain execution.

MoonPay expands AI transaction capabilities

MoonPay launched MoonPay Agents, and it presented a non-custodial system designed for automated trading and transfers. The product runs on its developer tool, MoonPay CLI, and it enables agents to act once wallets are funded.

The company stated that agents can trade digital assets, and they can execute swaps under user-approved permissions. Ivan Soto-Wright said, “AI agents can reason, but they cannot act economically without capital infrastructure,e” and he described the release as a bridge between automation and money.

After users complete identity checks, agents gain access to programmatic execution, and they can operate under verified profiles. The setup supports fiat transfers, and it supports crypto funding so agents can move assets across chains.

The release supports recurring buys, and it supports cross-chain swaps for automated strategies. It also integrates the x402 machine-to-machine standard, and it targets expanding use in agent-driven services.

The firm said that users hold their own non-custodial wallets, and they store them locally for direct control. Agents then manage trades, and they handle transfers while retaining the user’s defined limits.

The product connects blockchain activity with traditional rails, and it aims to streamline automated flows. It moves funds through bank transfers, and it moves assets back into fiat when users request off-ramps.

Growing trend toward agent-based crypto tools

Coinbase launched tools for AI agents, and it allowed them to manage wallets for controlled actions. Stripe added x402 support, and it opened new routes for USDC-based machine transactions.

deBridge released infrastructure for non-custodial cross-chain execution, and it enabled agents to act directly across networks. Developers said these tools help automate flows, and they extend machine control into financial functions.

OpenAI partnered with Paradigm on security tools, and they aimed to support smart contract checks for automated systems. Ethereum contributors also explored agentic frameworks and they pushed new ideas toward onchain automation.

New startups raised funds for AI-driven applications, and they focused on automation within Web3. The company said these trends show demand for compliant rails and it said agents require ways to move funds safely.
