PANews reported on March 2nd that, according to the New York Post, Trump recently stated that he would not rule out sending US ground troops to Iran if "necessary," and declared that he "doesn't care about the polls" after Saturday's attack. Trump stated that he believes he did the "right thing" and that most Americans support him—although initial polls suggest otherwise. He argued that allowing "crazy people" to acquire nuclear weapons would have consequences even worse than regional conflicts. Trump said, "I have no concerns about sending troops to the ground. Unlike other presidents who say 'I will never send troops to the ground.' I don't say that; I say 'we may not need them,' or 'if necessary.'" A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted on Saturday and Sunday showed that only 27% of Americans approved of the attack, while 43% disapproved, and 29% were unsure.
