Search engine giant Google has issued a warning about cryptocurrency.

Accordingly, Google has warned that a new malware could steal cryptocurrency from iPhones.

Google researchers have discovered a new type of malware that can hack iPhones and steal cryptocurrency wallet recovery phrases, and are urging users to be cautious.

According to Google’s Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG), they have identified “Coruna,” a new iOS exploit kit capable of hacking iPhones running iOS versions 13.0 to 17.2.1.

The team stated that the software is believed to have spread last December through numerous fake Chinese financial websites, including sites mimicking cryptocurrency exchanges.

This kit, which includes five attack chains and 23 vulnerabilities, targets memory helper phrases retrieved from encrypted wallets.

According to researchers, when users with vulnerable iPhones visit these malicious sites, the attack code runs automatically. Researchers also emphasized that the malware can extract sensitive data from cryptographic applications like Uniswap (UNI) and MetaMask.

Therefore, Google researchers strongly recommend that iPhone users update their devices to the latest iOS version immediately.
