Key Insights:
- Ethereum news showed that Dev Derek Chang claims Frame Transactions are more flexible for supporting AA use cases.
- ETH price is yet to break above the $2,400 resistance, raising a bearish outlook for the coin.
- BitMine buys 67,111 ETH coins, valued at $145M, suggesting confidence in its future price movements.
Ethereum news was sparked by developer Derek Chiang, who has pushed for the adoption of Frame Transactions (EIP-8141) amid ongoing debate over Account Abstraction (AA).
His argument comes as the Ethereum (ETH) price continues to consolidate, falling below the $2,400 resistance zone. Despite the price drop, institutional investor Bitmine recently added more ETH to its crypto reserve.
Ethereum News: Need for Frame Transactions?
In the recent Ethereum news, Derek argued that Frames Transactions provides the most flexible foundation for supporting AA use cases.
He added that the primary concern with Frames, which is the complexity it may introduce for developers, can be addressed with powerful defaults that simplify common workflows.
Derek went further to explain why now is the right time for Ethereum to start working on native AA.
For context, AA is Ethereum’s long-running effort to make smart contract wallets, multisig security, session keys, and recovery options seamless and simple.
Currently, most AA happens off-protocol via ERC-4337, a standard that uses “bundlers” and “paymasters” as intermediaries. However, Derek argued that most other AA proposals use a “top-down” approach. It selects a few key AA features, such as gas paid in stablecoins, multisig, and privacy.
Per the Ethereum news, the problems with top-down are that it is subjective and short-sighted. Different teams prioritize different use cases, leading to endless debate. Also, today’s hot features might miss future innovations.
Unlike AA, Frame Transactions uses a bottom-up approach. It starts with the smallest possible set of primitive “LEGO blocks” (axioms) that can be composed flexibly.
According to Derek, three simple axioms are enough to unlock all known AA use cases today and future unknown ones. He concluded that EIP-8141 offers the best balance.
They provide a flexible foundation for all AA use cases and are safe for everyday use. In addition, they are an excellent fit with the broader Ethereum roadmap.
Analysis of Ethereum (ETH) Price
Amid the Ethereum news trend about AA and Frame Transaction, crypto analyst CyrilXBT on X, shared an update on the ETH price.
The analyst highlighted a bearish outlook for ETH price, noting that the price has underperformed expectations. He explained that $2,400 has acted as a strong overhead resistance multiple times, and the price has failed to break through it.
CyrilXBT went on to highlight $1,800 as the major support level and macro trendline he is watching closely. Note that $1,800 was held during the earlier 2026 dip. If this breaks, Ethereum price could see a deeper correction.
Additionally, volume has completely dried up after the February spike, which the analyst finds worrisome. This is because it is often a sign of indecision or exhaustion.
CyrilXBT also noted that he is watching the 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) long-term trend indicator at $2,787. The analyst expects to see a strong close above $2,400 accompanied by higher trading volume, before an imminent breakout.
Notably, ETH price traded at $2,183 at the time of writing, up slightly by 1.2% over the past 24 hours.
BitMine Adds 67,111 ETH to Reserve
In another Ethereum news, BitMine, a major institutional investor, has acquired an additional 67,111 ETH coins. The assets, valued at approximately $145 million, were purchased from Kraken, as noted by Lookonchain.
This is not a one-off purchase, but the latest in a long, aggressive buying streak. Last month, the company added 45,759 ETH to its balance sheet, increasing holdings to 4.37 million.
The BitMine firm has turned itself into the world’s largest corporate ETH treasury holder. Instead of holding Bitcoin like MicroStrategy, BitMine is all in on Ethereum. The firm buys large amounts of Ethereum, stakes large amounts, and holds the asset on its balance sheet.
