An email from AI researcher Joscha Bach to Jeffrey Epstein, largely overlooked in the released files, reveals how people in Epstein's network acknowledged his crimes while continuing relationships with him.

Bach became financially dependent on Epstein after moving to MIT in 2013, and eventually had Epstein pay his $6,500 monthly rent, school tuition, and travel expenses.

After Epstein's 2019 arrest on sex trafficking charges, Bach expressed concern for Epstein's well-being rather than concern for the victims. Bach's email explicitly acknowledged knowing about Epstein's behavior, writing that associates "compartmentalize the topic" or treat it as "interestingly dark and edgy."

Bach also analyzed Epstein's misogyny, describing his attraction to women while viewing them as less trustworthy than men.
