Conservatives flag 'five-alarm fire' as support for president collapses: 'Reverse course!'

A new poll released Monday showed President Donald Trump’s approval rating had fallen to what appears to be its lowest level on record, prompting a number of conservative commentators to start panicking.

“Five alarm fire,” wrote conservative media personality Megyn Kelly in a social media post on X. “For the love of all that is holy we need to get out of Iran and work full time on [peoples’] $ worries.”

First reported on by Zeteo, the new poll revealed that Trump’s approval rating had slipped to 33%, and his disapproval rating had climbed to 62%. While a historic low for the president, who left the White House in 2021 with a 34% approval rating, Trump’s approval could dip even further should he authorize a ground invasion in Iran, the poll’s findings suggest.

Chandler Langevin, a conservative elected official for the city of Palm Bay, Florida, put the blame for Trump’s abysmal poll numbers squarely on his decision to launch a war against Iran, which has proven unpopular with a majority of Americans.

“I am one of the most right wing people I know. As long as we are in this absolutely unjustifiable war, I am a hard disapprove,” Langevin wrote in a social media post on X.

According to a new Pew Research study, 61% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of U.S. military action against Iran, and 59% said the United States made the “wrong” decision to launch the initial strikes against the Middle East nation. The war has also caused a rift among Trump’s supporters, many of whom supported the president for his frequent anti-interventionist rhetoric.
