MEXC Exchange/Learn/Shiba Inu (SHIB)

Shiba Inu (SHIB)

Shiba Inu launched in August 2020 as a self-described Dogecoin killer, created by an anonymous founder known as Ryoshi. What separates it from most memecoins is not the branding but the decision to keep building: a decentralized exchange, its own Layer 2 network, and companion tokens now sit around what began as a joke on a joke. This hub collects MEXC Learn's Shiba Inu coverage. Start with the structure if you are new, because SHIB's mechanics differ from Dogecoin's in almost every way that matters. From there the coverage splits three ways. Token and supply. SHIB is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum — it has no blockchain of its own. It launched with a quadrillion-token supply, half of which was sent unsolicited to Ethereum's founder, who burned most of it and donated the rest. Today's supply still sits in the hundreds of trillions, which is the single most important number for understanding every SHIB price discussion, and the burn mechanics that chip away at it are covered here with honest arithmetic. Ecosystem. Shibarium, launched in 2023, is a Layer 2 network built to give the ecosystem cheap transactions, with BONE as its gas token and ShibaSwap as its exchange. This track explains how the pieces connect and what each token actually does. Culture and markets. SHIB's 2021 run remains one of the most extreme price events in crypto history. Coverage here treats it as a case study in reflexive demand rather than a template for the future.

Shiba Inu (SHIB) FAQ

Different in almost everything except the dog. Dogecoin is its own proof-of-work blockchain with unlimited issuance, built in 2013. SHIB is a fixed-launch-supply token on Ethereum, built in 2020, surrounded by an ecosystem of contracts — a DEX, a Layer 2, companion tokens. DOGE is a currency with no platform; SHIB is a platform play wearing a meme.

The quadrillion-token launch was a design choice: a price with many zeros feels cheap, and "one SHIB costs a tiny fraction of a cent" was part of the pitch. The supply figure changes nothing about valuation — what matters is price times supply — but it permanently shapes the psychology around the token, which is why supply questions dominate every SHIB discussion.

Run the arithmetic before forming an opinion. Supply sits in the hundreds of trillions; community burns remove millions or billions at a time. Burning a billion SHIB removes roughly a millionth of the supply. The one burn that genuinely mattered — Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin destroying about forty percent of supply in 2021 — was a one-off. Ongoing burns are symbolically active and mathematically slow.

Multiply it out: hundreds of trillions of tokens at one cent implies a market value in the trillions of dollars — larger than any company on earth, and a large multiple of the entire crypto market's historical peak. That is not a prediction about direction; it is arithmetic about scale. Any serious discussion of SHIB's upside has to start from the supply, not the price per token.

Create an account and complete KYC verification, then fund it by card, bank transfer, P2P, or a crypto deposit. Most users buy a stablecoin such as USDT first, then trade it for SHIB on the SHIB/USDT spot market. From there you can hold it, withdraw it to an Ethereum wallet, or move it into other products.
