Key Takeaways
Learn how to earn interest on USDT while trading futures on MEXC, activate eligible balances, and estimate your daily earnings.

You can earn interest on USDT while trading futures through MEXC Futures Earn. The USDT product shows a 5% base APR for qualifying futures balances of at least 100 USDT, with position-based bonuses bringing the total APR to as much as 20%.

Eligible USDT stays available for futures trading after the feature is enabled. Your balance earns the base rate, while qualifying positions can unlock an additional rate under the product's rules.

How to Earn Interest on USDT While Trading Futures on MEXC

  1. Sign in and open Futures Earn. Select the USDT product and check that your account and region are eligible.
  2. Review the USDT rules. Check your applicable APR and earning cap, including the conditions for position bonuses.
  3. Enable Futures Earn. Read and accept the product agreement and complete activation.
  4. Keep at least 100 USDT in your futures account to meet the displayed minimum balance. If you already hold enough eligible USDT there, check your earning status rather than transferring funds again.
  5. Continue trading and review your interest records. The product describes hourly accrual and daily payouts, with interest distributed the following day.

Opening a position is not required for the 5% base APR. Position bonuses apply when your qualifying exposure reaches the relevant threshold.

What You Need to Earn 20% APR

The advertised 20% is the maximum total APR: 5% base APR plus a position bonus of up to 15%. The public USDT rules show these bonus thresholds:

  • 1,000 USDT in qualifying position value: an additional 1% APR.
  • 50,000 USDT in qualifying position value: an additional 5% APR.
  • 100,000 USDT in qualifying position value: an additional 10% APR.
  • 500,000 USDT in qualifying position value: an additional 15% APR, bringing the total to 20%.

Position value determines the bonus tier; it is not the amount on which you earn interest. MEXC's explanation of interest-bearing principal distinguishes the qualifying USDT funds from the trading exposure. A 500,000 USDT position does not mean that 500,000 USDT earns interest.

Your personalized APR and principal limits determine how these rates apply to your account. Check the amount eligible for base interest and bonus interest before estimating earnings.

Calculate Interest Using Your Applicable APR

A simplified daily estimate using a 365-day year is:

Daily interest = eligible USDT principal × applicable APR ÷ 365

For 10,000 USDT eligible for the displayed 5% base APR throughout a full day:

10,000 × 0.05 ÷ 365 ≈ 1.37 USDT

If your qualifying position value reaches the 500,000 USDT threshold and the full 10,000 USDT qualifies for both the 5% base rate and 15% bonus throughout that day:

10,000 × 0.20 ÷ 365 ≈ 5.48 USDT

These examples use the product's displayed rates with an illustrative 10,000 USDT principal. Actual payouts follow the eligible balances, applicable caps, accrual measurements and settlement rules. Increasing a position to reach a bonus threshold also increases trading exposure, which needs to be assessed separately.

FAQ

Can I earn USDT interest without trading?

Yes. The USDT rules state that qualifying futures balances of at least 100 USDT can earn the 5% base APR after activation, without a position or trading requirement. Account eligibility and principal caps still apply.

Will enabling Futures Earn prevent me from opening or closing positions?

No. Eligible funds remain available for futures trading. Transfers out still depend on your account's margin requirements and open positions, and can reduce the balance eligible for interest.

Risk Warning

Interest does not protect futures collateral from trading losses or liquidation. APRs, eligibility and principal limits can change. Use the current rules and applicable amounts shown for your account.
