The arrest of an ex-Army employee accused of leaking classified material to the press sparked outrage on Wednesday night.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Wednesday that the FBI had arrested 40-year-old Courtney Williams of Wagram, North Carolina, for allegedly leaking classified information to a reporter for a book. The indictment adds that Williams posted classified information on her social media pages. Williams' arrest happened just days after President Donald Trump said whoever leaked information about an American F-15 fighter jet being shot down in Iran should be imprisoned.

The FBI said Williams worked in a Special Military Unit from 2010 to 2016 and held a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance.

Political analysts and observers were outraged over the arrest and shared their reactions on social media.

"The FBI is incapable of solving real crimes, like all the murders on Fort Bragg involving elite soldiers trafficking drugs, so they settle for retaliating against courageous whistleblowers like Courtney Williams, whose only 'crime' was telling the truth about Delta Force," journalist Seth Harp posted on X.

"The entire government is infested with Iranian & Russian hackers because you fired everyone in cyber. You nabbed a leaker. Valhalla, dips---. See you in court," political writerJim Stewartson posted on X.

"Keep an eye on this," lawyer and political strategist Ford O'Connell posted on X.
