Krishna used the call to lay out IBM’s positioning around agentic AI. His core argument: as AI agents need more access to infrastructure, systems of record like databases and other software components are set to grow faster as a result.

He also stressed that clear return on investment evidence over the next two years will be key to justifying continued capital spending on AI infrastructure. It’s a measured take, but one that gives IBM a credible angle in the AI conversation.

On the partnership front, IBM announced a five-year collaboration with Lam Research to explore new materials and techniques for sub-1nm logic scaling. The work will center on high-NA EUV lithography, with the goal of accelerating IBM’s logic scaling roadmap.

IBM Shows Off AI at The Masters

IBM added a high-profile showcase to its AI resume by launching new watsonx-powered experiences for the 90th Masters Tournament. The platform features conversational archives and real-time hole insights, giving golf fans an interactive AI-driven experience on one of sport’s biggest stages.

Multiple outlets noted IBM outpaced the broader market on the day the Masters rollout was covered, with analysts pointing to the AI proof-point as a catalyst for buying interest.

IBM stock opened at $248.38 on Tuesday. The one-year range sits between $214.50 and $324.90. The stock is currently trading below both its 50-day moving average of $270.58 and its 200-day moving average of $285.09.
