Bitcoin stabilized near $84K after last week's 12% slide and one of the worst ETF outflow weeks on record.

Based on the data as of October 18, 2026, Bitcoin’s current price is 81,650 USDT. The user’s reference to $84K is outdated. The latest coinGlass Fear & Greed Index is 54 (neutral), while the AHR999 indicator sits at 0.51, suggesting Bitcoin is priced below its long-term fair value but not in an extreme capitulation zone.

Looking at the news flow: Charles Schwab is now offering direct Bitcoin trading to qualified clients, which is a significant retail access milestone. However, there is also profit-taking pressure from miners. Hut 8 transferred 1,589 BTC (worth about 130 million USDT) to exchanges over two days, and Bitcoin spot ETFs saw a net outflow of 82.4 million USDT in a single day. Although earlier there was a small net inflow of 5.06 million USDT led by BlackRock's IBIT, overall institutional flows remain mixed. Long-dormant whales moving coins after 12–13 years adds another layer of overhead supply risk.

On the social sentiment side, bullish narratives still dominate around corporate accumulation, ETF access expansion, and quantum-resistant address upgrades. But the market is also pricing in geopolitical risk from the Middle East, which historically can trigger both risk-off flows and safe-haven demand for Bitcoin. From a technical standpoint, 1-hour MACD has turned slightly positive on the momentum front, but the 4-hour MACD histogram remains negative, meaning upward momentum is still being tested. Key liquidity clusters are seen at 84,000 USDT and 86,000 USDT, while funding rates remain low at 0.006%, indicating that leveraged longs are not overheated. The elite long-short ratio on major exchanges is around 1.78, showing top traders are leaning long but not aggressively.

For short-term trading, the most relevant liquidity zones are support near 80,300 USDT (the lower Bollinger Band on the 1-day) and resistance at 83,300 USDT (the 1-day middle Bollinger Band). The on-chain flow data shows that the last 24 hours have seen a modest net inflow of 47.4 million USDT, but the wider 7-day trend still shows outflows of -262 million USDT on October 14 and -154 million USDT on October 15, confirming that large players are still de-risking into strength. That means any push toward 84,000 USDT is likely to face selling pressure unless it is backed by a real surge in spot buying volume, not just futures positioning.

ETF flows are the key leading indicator here. The latest data shows the market has not yet flipped back to sustained institutional accumulation, even though long-term holders continue to hold supply steady at 16.4 million BTC. Short-term holder supply is 3.72 million BTC, which means the marginal seller is still the recent buyer. This creates a setup where price can easily trade between 80,300 USDT and 83,300 USDT until either ETF flows turn decisively positive or a new macro catalyst arrives.
