PANews reported on January 3rd that, according to Globenewswire, stablecoin issuer Tether has invested in SQRIL, though the specific investment amount has not yet been disclosed. SQRIL, a Southeast Asian startup, provides payment APIs for banks, e-wallets, and fintech applications, enabling their mobile app users to scan QR codes and make payments in real time across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The SQRIL API currently supports local QR code payments in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia, and bank transfers in Malaysia and Thailand.
