Right-wing influencer Laura Loomer stunned a prominent MAGA supporter on Saturday after apologizing for a series of social media posts she’s made targeting Indians, posts that many – including prominent Republicans – have described as “racist.”
Loomer was speaking at the annual India Today Conclave conference in New Delhi, India, and was confronted about her many past controversial statements about Indians, whom she’s called “third world invaders” whose culture centers around “rape.”
“I should not have said some of the things I wrote in the tweets,” Loomer conceded, The Times of India reported. “I apologize if my remarks offended people. I am here in India this week and will be spending several days in the country, travelling across the country.”
Loomer’s apology apparently didn’t sit well with Vish Burra, a prominent MAGA influencer and political operative who previously served as director of operations for disgraced former Rep. George Santos (R-NY).
“Indians have buck broken Laura Loomer. I hope the jeetbux were worth it!” Burra wrote Saturday in a social media post on X, with “jeetbux” being a mash-up of the words “jeet” – a racist slur for Indians and South Asians – and “bux,” a slang term for money.
Loomer, a self-described “proud Islamophobe,” has a long history of making what critics have labeled as overtly racist and bigoted remarks, particularly against Muslims, having called them “savages.” Her racially charged remarks have also been extended to other ethnicities, including Indians, with Loomer once warning that the White House would “smell like curry” if former Vice President Kamala Harris – whose mother was Indian – won the 2024 presidential election.
And yet, despite her frequent controversial remarks, Loomer continues to wield “breathtaking influence” in the Trump administration, having played an outsized role in the administration’s mass firings and immigration policies.
