Aster Introduces Shield Mode to Enable Private Perpetual Trading

Aster launches Shield Mode for private perpetual trading, offering gasless execution, zero slippage, and flexible fee models for high-leverage traders.

Aster has launched Shield Mode, a protected trading feature within Aster Perpetual. The update is aimed at privacy-oriented traders. Moreover, it provides high leverage with instant execution. Therefore, the launch demonstrates the increasing need for discretion and efficiency across on-chain perpetual markets worldwide.

Shield Mode Adds Privacy and Speed to On-Chain Perpetuals

Shield Mode is a mode in which traders have the ability to open and manage positions without a public order book. As a result, orders are hidden from the market’s visibility. This structure is supportive of traders who want confidentiality. In addition, the mode supports one tap for long and short.

At the time of launch, Shield Mode only supports Bitcoin and Ether pairs. These pairs have zero slippage for execution. Furthermore, trading has no gas costs. Opening and closing fees are also waived during the launch period.

Aster provides the leverage up to 1001X in Shield Mode. This capability is built right into Aster Perpetual. Consequently, traders get access to high leverage without changing interfaces. An isolated margin further allows for precise control of risk per position.

Execution happens instantly using Aster’s internal matching mechanism. Therefore, latency and frontrunning risks are reduced. The lack of an available public order book also reduces the amount of strategies being exposed. This design accommodates professional and high frequency trading styles.

To celebrate its launch, Aster waived all Shield Mode fees through December 31. However, Shield and Mode volume does NOT currently count for the Aster airdrop program. The platform benefited from this limitation in the promotional period.

Shield Mode was described by Aster as a protected execution layer. It is an early building block for future privacy features. These developments will in the future potentially integrate with Aster Chain initiatives, according to the project.

The Aster token was trading for a price of near $0.87 in the middle of December. Prices were slightly different in different exchanges. Notably, the token fell some seven percent in the last twenty-four hours.

Flexible Fee Models Signal Broader Strategy Shift at Aster

In addition to launch incentives, Aster is looking to introduce flexible fee models. Traders will eventually decide on how they will pay. This way, fares are proportional to individual strategies and risk preferences.

Commission Mode will be based on a fixed percentage of each trade. This model is targeted to consistent high-volume traders. Whereas PnL Mode only charges for profitable trades. Such a structure is conducive to performance-based strategies.

Aster said Shield Mode was designed to support both models seamlessly. Therefore, traders can switch without having to change execution mechanics. This flexibility is to target different trading profiles under one system.

The platform highlighted that the Shield Mode is not limited to just one feature. Instead, there is support for a broader vision for private markets on the blockchain. By shielding execution details, Aster adds to strategic discretion.

Integrating the Shield Mode brings together Aster’s major trading tools. High leverage, gas-free trading and position management are now working in one. Consequently, operational complexity is reduced for the traders.

Zero fees and gasless execution are an aggressive benchmark. Competing decentralized exchanges tend to charge variable costs. What Aster does is it makes speed at executing and predictability at the lower end.

From a market perspective, Shield Mode reflects intensifying competition among perpetual platforms. Privacy, cost efficiency, and leverage have become distinguishing factors. Therefore, the quality of execution, rather than just the depth of liquidity, starts to become increasing important to innovation.

Overall, Shield Mode represents a trend to more discreet, high-performance, on-chain trading. Aster’s launch hints at shifting expectations among the traders of derivatives. As decentralized finance matures, protected execution may be a common requirement.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
